The Country and the City in the Anthropocene, will explore the co-constitution of the urban and rural in the face of the Anthropocene. Raymond Williams’s iconic The Country and the City (1973), which our title alludes to, scrutinised how the emergence of capitalism in the nineteenth century capsized ingrained narratives of urban and rural life. Un/Building the Future is concerned with whether the shifting environmental contours of the twenty-first century are having a similarly radical effect.

Chat Central is a National Lottery Funded project that helps people to find others with similar interests, to have fun, get out of the house, join in with a hobby, get involved with their community and to find new friends.

We help people to explore their interests and start doing the things they want to do.

This might be:

• meeting new friends
• rediscovering interests
• finding new ones
• building confidence
• volunteering

Chat Central runs a supportive weekly City Walk. On average there is about eight of us who turn up and we are all ages. We meet rain or shine, to offer a friendly face and some fresh air in a group setting.

We decide where we will walk on the day depending on the weather, what's going on in the city and the mobility of the people in the group but we do rotate the walks to keep things fresh and interesting!

The group meets outside The Transport Museum every Friday at 10am

You just turn up and there is no need to worry about cancelling if you are having a busy day or don't feel up to it.
