How creativity becomes commercial success.

The creative industries generate billions for economies around the world while driving innovation across media and technology. The first course of its kind in the UK, our MA explores the relationship between creativity and cultural entrepreneurship. You'll take a creative approach to management and a managed approach to creativity – preparing you for careers in areas such as marketing, production and creative business development.

D1 - Introduction

Build the entrepreneurial and strategic skills to thrive in the creative industries.

  • Creative enterprise: understand how to manage people, businesses and ideas
  • Entrepreneurship: investigate innovation, intellectual property and new venture creation

There are five core modules, which also includes a course specific applied management module. The bespoke applied management module for this MA is ‘Creative Business Project’. This module gives you the opportunity to apply your learning in practice- or industry-related contexts.

Learn to lead, manage and innovate in the creative world.

  • Creative management: understand how creative organisations, teams and markets operate
  • Collaborative learning: be part of a close-knit course community with group projects and shared discussion
  • Professional development: build analytical, entrepreneurial and communication skills valued across the creative industries
E2 - Class sizes

We traditionally limit class size to 20-35 students on each of the three taught Master's courses.

E3 - Contact hours

Typical contact hours range between 6 to 10 hours each week for core teaching – this excludes additional tutorials, workshops, and research seminars.

E4 - Assessment
  • All coursework
  • Written assignments in a variety of forms, such as essays, case studies, evaluations, reports, proposals, portfolios and business plans
  • Group presentations and creative, practical projects
  • A Major Project (written dissertation of 12,000 words) on a research topic of your choice

F0 - Entry Requirements

F1 - Minimum requirements

2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a related subject.

F4 - English Language Requirement
  • Band B

  • IELTS overall score of 7.0, minimum component scores of two at 6.0/6.5 and the rest at 7.0 or above.

F5 - Additional requirements

There are no additional entry requirements for this course. However, we may ask applicants to write a short essay, attend an interview, or respond to a set of questions.
