You’ll be based in our Faculty of Arts Building - a creative hub at the heart of our cultural quarter, found beside the refurbished Warwick Arts Centre, the University’s Esports Hub, the creative technology space The Fusion, and in close proximity to Leamington Spa’s globally renowned games district. This sustainably built eight-storey space offers excellent teaching rooms, specialist facilities and social areas designed to foster creativity, innovation and collaboration, including our bespoke Media Lab where you will apply your learning to media production practice.

As a CTE student, you’ll benefit from courses designed for a diverse community of learners, including face-to-face and online students. PGCE students develop their practice through strong partnerships with schools, where real-world experience is complemented by high-quality mentoring. If you study on campus, Warwick’s Westwood Campus offers authentic learning and teaching spaces, with all the facilities of the main campus just a short walk away - including the Library and collaborative study environments. Meanwhile, online learners are supported through dedicated digital resources, expert guidance and a strong virtual learning community.

Our graduates go on to work in a variety of roles within education, as classroom specialists, mentors, middle and senior leaders, and in pastoral positions.
Our teachers also move into related roles outside of school-based education, into Higher Education, social work and alternative education provision for example. They work across the state, independent and international school sectors.
In addition, our teachers have pursued further research by advancing onto our MA in Professional Education and/or through PhD/EdD further study, and have shared their research widely at conferences and through publication.

Upon completing one of our courses, you will gain 90 credits at Master’s level. This allows you to fast-track to stage two of CTE’s Master’s degree, quickly progressing your professional development. Career progression may be through taking responsibility for co-ordinating an area of the curriculum or leading a Key Stage, with next steps being a senior management role.

Ranked third in the UK for research excellence (REF 2021), Classics and Ancient History at Warwick offers an intellectually stimulating and interdisciplinary environment where the richness of the classical world converges with academic excellence.

You’ll be based in Warwick’s striking £57.5 million Faculty of Arts Building - a space designed to bring creativity, collaboration and discovery together. Found in the University’s cultural quarter beside the refurbished Warwick Arts Centre, the sustainably built eight-storey hub offers high-quality teaching rooms, flexible study areas and social spaces. It’s a place designed to help your ideas flourish beyond the classroom.
We offer a dedicated postgraduate workspace within the department, which is also home to an antiquities collection and exhibition space for use by students. We have excellent library facilities to support your research, and offer financial contributions for travel or conference attendance. Our postgraduate students form an important part of our research community, and attend weekly research seminars with speakers from across the world.
Most of our postgraduate degrees offer an opportunity to include an experience abroad during your studies, whether through courses offered by the British Schools in Rome or Athens, or via other exchange arrangements with universities worldwide.

- Department of Chemistry - 5 - Placements and work experience - PGT
This MSc is an intensive full-time course that runs over approximately 50 weeks of the year. Students undertake a combination of taught modules, laboratory work, a group project and an extended independent research project, and should expect their studies to be their primary commitment throughout the duration of the Master’s.
As a result, this course does not offer a formal work placement, and the Department of Chemistry does not recommend that students undertake substantial internships, placements or other regular employment alongside full-time Master’s studies.
Students may choose to pursue short-term, flexible opportunities to gain additional experience, provided these can be accommodated alongside their studies and comply with any applicable visa conditions. However, students are responsible for ensuring that any work or extracurricular commitments do not adversely affect their academic progress or attendance and advice should be sought from the Course Director prior to any placement being agreed.

Whilst there is lots of support available at the University to help, students themselves are responsible for finding and securing any suitable internships or work experience. Students will also be responsible for ensuring opportunities meet visa requirements, do not exceed the university’s advised 20 hours per week for full-time students and for balancing extra-curricular activity with their studies.

The moving image is the most significant art form of the twentieth century. By studying it, you will develop a unique way of understanding the world you live in. You will be exposed to a diverse film and television culture at the forefront of change as our means of viewing evolve. Whether it's a pure passion for the moving image, its stars, genres and history, or academic curiosity that excites you, follow a curriculum that’s as ambitious and innovative as Film and Television Studies are.
From day one, you will be taught by the country’s leading scholars through state-of-the-art lectures, seminars and individual tutorial supervisions. Think, live and breathe the moving image through discussion, reading, writing, blogging, video-essays and screenwriting.

Viewing
We pride ourselves on being able to screen films and television programmes in a format that is as close as possible to how audiences would have originally seen them.
The department offers cinema-standard facilities in its screening rooms, two of which are equipped with 35mm and 16mm film projectors alongside DVD and Blu-Ray equipment. Our main lecture theatre is fitted with a cinema-quality 4K digital projector. We have access to the newly-refurbished Warwick Arts Centre cinema which offers 4K projection and Dolby Atmos surround sound.
Students also have access to dedicated IT facilities, Steenbeck viewing tables, digital video equipment (including DVD, Blu-Ray, VHS and online streaming) in various departmental rooms, as well as a special study room which includes viewing and seminar preparation facilities, and a Radio Times collection.
Library
Our library has one of the largest collections of film and television-related books in the country, providing access all the major books in the field in the English language as well as substantial holdings in French, German and Italian.
We subscribe to all the major scholarly journals including Cahiers du cinéma, Cinema Journal, Movie, Screen, Positif, as well as trade and fan periodicals like Broadcast, Picturegoer, and Variety.
We also hold over 25,000 VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K titles.

At Warwick Thursdays, our regular literary and cultural salon, you will encounter creative practitioners (typically including writers, filmmakers, literary translators, visual artists) and industry guests (including publishers, agents, journalists), gaining an insight into a range of possible careers in the creative industries.
