Law provides the framework for economic and social life, and for relationships between states, governments and individuals. At Warwick Law School, we pioneered an approach to the study of law that looks at legal rules 'in context' to examine their social, political and economic effects.

Students engaging with a Law lecture at University of Warwick

Our Law degrees enable you to develop an in-depth understanding of the technical and doctrinal aspects of the law, and a critical awareness of the role law can play in contemporary society.

Warwick Law School is renowned for its high-quality research and draws on this expertise in its teaching and in the range of modules we offer students. The Law School emphasises a contextual approach to, and international and comparative perspectives on, the study of law.

As well as studying legal judgements, statutes and treaties, you will gain valuable insights into the impact of economic, cultural and political change on law, and consider how law affects life beyond the courtroom and the lawyer's office.

Modules

Core modules in your first year will provide you with a thorough grounding in core legal skills. You will also take core modules in your second and final years alongside optional modules tailored to your academic interests.

Modules are taught as half modules (one term) or full modules (two terms).

You can also take modules from other departments to reinforce your interdisciplinary skills. In your final year, you will undertake a 6,000 or 12,000 word dissertation or supervised project in place of a half or full module.

Note that the module catalogue is subject to change for future years of study, as we evolve our courses in response to the latest developments in academia and industry.
