Your memories of Warwick

BA QTS, 1989

Last summer, I met up with two university friends, one of whom we hadn't met for 38 years! It was felt we needed a reunion. This September, 40 years after we started Warwick, the reunion was held at Scarman Conference Centre - 20 of us altogether!

From start to finish, the weekend was non-stop talking, reminiscing, and laughing. We were even greeted in the evening by the current University Student President! We noticed how green the University had become and how beautiful the campus was. On Sunday, we walked over to Westwood but were disappointed to find the site being mothballed and unused.

For anyone thinking of organising a reunion, Scarman is the perfect choice: superb food, accommodation, and free tea, coffee, and homemade goodies in the lounge area. We had so much fun! Another reunion for BAQTS graduates (1985–89) is going to be held in four years’ time, to coincide with 40 years since our graduation! Can’t wait!

Warwick love stories

Mark and Anne Curry

BSc Accounting and Financial Analysis, 1990 and LLB Law, 1990

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in August 2023 having met when we were allocated rooms near each other in Benefactors’ Hall in October 1987. We started dating a month later. We married in August 1993, with several Warwick alumni amongst the guests, and we now have two children; Alex who has graduated from UEA, and Maddie who is in the Upper Sixth at school.

We celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Stockholm, and we’re forever grateful to the person who sorted the University hall allocations in 1987!

Your books

Dana's book Glory Days

Dana Zaman

BA English and American Literature, 1992

My fourth book, Glory Days, was inspired by my time at Warwick back in the 1990s. In the book, I have tried to capture the spirit of the times. Everyone who has read the book loves it and has rated it highly. One reader said she couldn't put the book down, and another told me that she read the whole thing in one night!

Glory Days is available for purchase at https://books.by/dfzaman.
