Royal Opera House - Big Screens 2018 - Don Giovanni
The music for Don Giovanni is some of Mozart’s most captivating, with a host of wonderful arias and ensembles. The conclusion is famously dramatic, with the terrifying final scene in which Don Giovanni’s past finally catches up with him. He may be a master seducer – but the thrill Don Giovanni arouses comes at a price. Kasper Holten’s visually striking production explores the creative energy of Don Giovanni and his effect on all who encounter him, heightened by stage designs and projections that ingeniously amplify themes of reality and imagination.
A cast of renowned singers is led by Mariusz Kwiecien who returns in the title role, and conducted by Marc Minkowski. Tragic and comic in turns, this is a story rich in emotions of every sort, expressed to perfection through Mozart’s musical subtlety and human insight.
