Professor David Morley

General

BSc (Bristol) and D.Litt (Warwick). David Morley is an award-winning British poet and critic. He has published twenty books, including eleven collections of poetry. His work has been translated into several languages and he has performed his poems at festivals around the globe. He is Professor of Creative Writing. His current projects include two new books of poems. He also directs The Warwick Prize for Writing. David is a Fellow of the English Association and a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. He was awarded a Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence and subsequently a National Teaching Fellowship, the most prestigious award for excellent teaching in higher education in the UK. Professor Morley is on Research Leave 2015-16.

Contemporary world poetry; poetry and the environment; poetry and science.

Selected poetry publications include Scientific Papers (Carcanet 2002); The Invisible Kings (Carcanet 2008); The Rose of the Moon (Templar 2009); Enchantment (Carcanet 2010); The Gypsy and the Poet (Carcanet 2013); The Invisible Gift: Selected Poems (Carcanet 2015). Selected prose publications include The Cambridge Introduction to Creative Writing (CUP, 2008); The Cambridge Companion to Creative Writing co-ed (CUP, 2012).


Teaching and Supervision

He teaches on the undergraduate modules 'Personal Writing Project' and 'The Practice of Poetry', and on postgraduate modules in writing poetry.
