Dr Bushra Mahzabeen

About

I am a Teaching Fellow in English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick. I am currently teaching the following undergraduate modules:

· Race Objects

· Medieval and Early Modern Literature

· Epic into Novel

In the past, I have also taught the module Modern World Literatures. I am also an Assistant Professor (on leave) at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Research Interests

I have completed my PhD in English and Comparative Literary Studies from Warwick. My research and teaching interests include the capitalist world-system, petrocultures, energy humanities, postcolonial literature and theory, and the Gothic. My past research has focused on gender, labour, and the shaping of racial identities in the petro-capitalist world-system. My current research explores different Gothic narratives to examine the heavily gendered capitalist world-system and how the twinned exploitation of peripheralised female figures and natural resources are perpetuated to ensure endless accumulation of profits.
