About

I am a PhD student in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies. My thesis explores the discursive space that Black British women in the late 20th century constructed and participated in by examining their print culture along with a diverse range of unpublished sources like meeting minutes, conference proceedings and oral history interviews. Regarding print culture as a strategic site of intervention and contestation for black women in Britain, I will try to understand how it reflected and shaped black feminist ideology, discourse and praxis. I will specifically examine how black women’s print culture generated solidarities, both through the ideas it conveyed and through the material spaces of its production and circulation.

Research Interests
