Declan Gillespie
Profile
I am a postgraduate researcher and seminar tutor in the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies. My doctoral thesis focuses on the prose works of Samuel Beckett and is provisionally titled ‘The Protruding Void: Mystical Affect in Samuel Beckett’s Prose’. My research interests extend from modernism to its aftereffects in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, particularly in the field of Irish literature. I am also interested more broadly in the interface between critical theory, philosophy, religion, and literature. I am a postgraduate representative on the managing committee of the Centre for Research in Philosophy, Literature and the Arts (CRPLA).
I work as a tutor on the first-year undergraduate module EN122 Modes of Reading. Please send me an email if you would like to arrange a meeting during my office hours.
