Self-Certification
Students can apply for a short extension (up to 5 working days) for assessed pieces of work where minor illness, family emergency, caring responsibilities or other personal circumstances necessitate a request for and extension for eligible assessed work.
- Students are only permitted to self-certify twice during an academic year, and can only self certify once for each piece of eligible work.
- Applications must be made via Tabula BEFORE the submission deadline of the qualifying piece of work.
- No supporting evidence is required, however should a student need to apply for a longer extension period beyond the five days this will be requested (unless reasonable adjustments are in place).
- Students who are absent for more than 5 consecutive university working days at any one time are not eligible to self-certify and should apply for an extension instead.
