Meet the Team
Charlotte
Widening Participation Officer
Hi. I’m Charlotte, the department’s Widening Participation Officer. After a career involving teaching English and Drama in secondary schools and also corporate recruitment in both the UK and Australia, I joined Warwick nearly 7 years ago. As a Widening Participation Officer with ECLS, it’s my role to ensure that the department is welcoming to students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Working with the students who participate in Transformations is the part of being a WP Officer that I find the most fun, rewarding and inspiring. Transformations has grown and changed over the time I’ve been here, but what has remained very much the same is the commitment, enthusiasm and drive for further progress that every cohort brings. If you’d ever like to chat about Transformations or to find out more about what Widening Participation involves (either in the department or the wider university) do contact me at Charlotte.pearce@warwick.ac.uk.
Samah
Co-President
Hi! My name is Samah, and I am one of the current co-presidents of Transformations. I joined Transformations in my first year at Warwick, and I will now be going into my third and final year doing Transformations. Transformations has been such a big part of my experience at Warwick, and I could not recommend it enough to anyone studying English! I’ve grown so much as a person, made so many friends, and gained so many skills through my involvement in the programme. From tutoring and working on the anthology to stepping into leadership roles, I’ve loved seeing how Transformations creates a supportive, creative community for both tutors and students. I’m really excited for another year of celebrating diverse voices, putting together the next anthology, and welcoming new members to the programme
Libby
Co-President
Hi, my name is Libby and I am one third of your 25/26 Transformations Co-Pres team! I am now entering the final year of my degree in English and History, and have been a member of Transformations since the very beginning of my time at Warwick. Out of everything I have done at university, Transformations has undoubtedly had the biggest impact on me both personally and professionally. As a joint degree student, the programme really helped me to find my place within the department, and I have made many true friends through teaching, training and our socials. Add to that the many valuable transferable skills I have gained through the scheme, such as leadership, adaptability and editing, and I can honestly say Transformations has made my university experience all the more worthwhile
Sourav
Co-President
Hi, my name is Sourav and I am honoured to be a co-president of Transformations this year! Ever since I learnt about Transformations in my first year induction lecture, I remember noting it down - as one did with every piece of info they may or may have not needed as a fresher in their first big lecture - and as soon as I heard "teaching experience" I circled it with so much enthusiasm that the ink went into the next page of my notebook - whoops. I have gone the full nine yards with this programme over my three years of uni and worked my way up from tutor to senior tutor and now to president. My dedication to this programme is not just a statement but an educational ladder that I have been diligently climbing with step after step. In this past year, I have personally undertaken public speaking lessons, taken the initiative to be a leader within my team and pioneered creativity and diversity within my time as a senior tutor, and so in my position as President, I pledge this same attitude forward on a larger scale to make the 25/26 season of Transformations one of the best it's ever had. Like Charlotte and the other Co-presidents, I am looking forward to the year ahead and can't wait to see what the tutors, the execs, the schools and the kids have to offer in terms of educational and literary genius
