Lara Choksey wins BSLS/JLS ECR Essay Prize 2018
Many congratulations to Lara Choksey, who has won the British Society of Literature and Science essay prize for a chapter of her thesis, "'Life itself' in Doris Lessing's space fiction : evolution, epigenetics and culture", supervised by Dr Graeme Macdonald and Professor Stephen Shapiro. The essay will be published next year in the Journal of Literature and Science.

Warwick Prize for Women in Translation longlist announced
The £1000 prize was established by the University of Warwick in 2017 to address the gender imbalance in translated literature and to increase the number of international women’s voices accessible by a British and Irish readership.
The shortlist is due to be announced in early November 2018.

The Warwick Seminar on Culture of Memory in Latin America
The Warwick Seminar on Culture of Memory in Latin America for 2018 is a joint initiative of Prof Paulo de Medeiros (English & Comparative Literary Studies) and Prof Alison Ribeiro de Menezes (School of Modern Languages and Cultures) with generous support from the Institute of Advanced Studies and the Global Research Priorities Group on Connecting Cultures. Seminar leader for 2018 is Prof Márcio Seligmann Silva, from UNICAMP, a visiting Fellow of the IAS.
