Midlands4Cities Funding Competition Open for 2021/2022 Applications!
Looking for PhD funding in 2021? Midlands4Cities are recruiting their next cohort of arts and humanities doctoral researchers to join the vibrant community in the Midlands. The AHRC-funded M4C Doctoral Training Partnership is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, University of Warwick, Coventry University, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham.
M4C is awarding up to 89 doctoral studentships for UK and International applicants for 2021 entry through an open competition and 21 Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDA) through a linked competition with a range of partner organisations in the cultural, creative and heritage sector.

AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Award with Imperial War Museums - Legacies of Insurgency and Counterinsurgency: Activism and Politics in Central Kenya, 1956-75 - DEADLINE EXTENDED
One fully funded doctoral studentship funded by the AHRC is available. The studentship is offered under the AHRC Collaborative Partnership programme with Imperial War Museums. The project will examine the aftermath and legacies of the Mau Mau insurgency and British counterinsurgency campaign for Kenya.
The studentship begins on 1 October 2020 and is fully funded at standard AHRC rates for 45 months full time (or part-time equivalent) with the potential to be extended for a further 3 months to provide professional development opportunities.
Applicants must be a resident of the UK or European Economic Area (EEA). In general, full studentships are available to students who are settled in the UK and have been ordinarily resident for a period of at least three years before the start of postgraduate studies. Fees-only awards are generally available to EU nationals resident in the EEA.

History Department MA Bursary 2020/2021 - EXTENDED APPLICATION DEADLINE
Due to the extraordinary circumstances relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are extending the deadline for the History Department MA bursary to Wednesday 20th May 2020. We recognise that applicants' ability to write their research proposals may have been adversely affected by the closure of archives and libraries. If this was the case, please indicate in the proposal what materials you would have otherwise consulted and how you have set about overcoming this research challenge.
The History Department will be awarding a bursary to an outstanding student applying for entry in 2020/2021.
The award will cover Home/EU fees and up to £10,000 stipend. All applicants will be considered. If you pay overseas fees the bursary will cover up to the value of home/EU fees.
Applicants must submit an online University application to be considered. Please indicate on your application form that you would like to be considered for History Department funding. Please also upload the following as supporting documents:
- a one-page research proposal (outlining the subject, aims and methodology of your proposed MA dissertation)
- an academic CV
As this is a new award, if you have already submitted your application and been offered a place, please email pghistoryoffice@warwick.ac.uk to supply your supporting documents (a one page research proposal and your academic CV as stated above).
