Music By Which to Read

Interestingly, Sigmund Freud was not particularly into music. Nevertheless, his psychoanalytic theories were as interesting to musicians as they were to people elsewhere. Indeed, Jean Sibelius, described his fourth symphony as being 'psychoanalytic'. Other musical types, such as jazz, also tie into the questioning of Enlightenment legacies and the supposed certainties of nineteenth century liberal thought.
