How Do I Connect to the Wireless Network at Warwick?

To access the Wireless Network service you will need a suitable notebook or handheld device equipped with a Wi-Fi standard wireless ethernet adapter. Many devices come with this type of network connectivity installed as standard.

The Wireless Network at Warwick supports devices compliant with 802.11g and 802.11n standards with the latest 802.11ac standard being introduced in selected areas. The service operates in both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wavebands.

Access to these services are subject to the University’s Information Security Policy and the JANET acceptable use policy.

The primary connection to the wireless network for Warwick Staff and Students is by the hotspot-secure service. Hotspot-secure provides users with an easy, fast log-on process and uses WPA2 Enterprise security to prevent eavesdropping on wireless data. Use your University IT Services username and password to log on.

Resnet-secure provides users with an easy, fast log-on process and uses WPA2 Enterprise security to prevent eavesdropping on wireless data. Use your University IT Service username and password to log on.

Academic Visitors

For users visiting from another academic institution which participates in the eduroam service, the eduroam wireless network service is available across the campus at Warwick. Users log-in using their normal IT account as issued by their home institution. There is no need to have a Warwick IT account or to make any special arrangements with Warwick IT Services. If users find they are unable to log-in, they should contact their own institution for advice.
Users with a Warwick IT account should not use eduroam whilst on campus and should therefore give the hotspot-secure service a higher preference in their wireless network settings.

Conference Guests and Visitors to Campus

Warwick Guest

Conference guests and other visitors to campus can use the free Warwick Guest wireless network anywhere on campus. This operates on a self-service basis, much like public wireless networks in cafes and airports.

Although there is no charge, users must register for an account and agree to the terms of use in order to use the network facilities. Users can register using a web browser on their wireless device and a password will be sent to their mobile phone as an SMS text message.
