Public history

Public history is history designed for (and sometimes by) the general public. This week's lecture explores the way the early modern period is presented to a wide range of audiences. The format of the lecture is a panel of speakers, each of them with experience in doing public history from an early modern perspective.

In the seminars we discuss one genre of public history that is increasingly important for early modernists, as it is for historians from all periods. Podcasts can be an efficient and entertaining way to bring history to life for a wide audience. We will read some scholarly commentary on the use of podcasts by historians, as well as listening to (and watching) some podcasts that have appeared since the module began.

Details will be posted on this page closer to the time.
