Workshop
Date and Time: Thursday 22 November, 11.00-13.00.
Room: S1.141
Description
This Workshop Session consists of group presentations of 20-25 min minutes each, carried out in groups of two to three students. Each presentation will be followed by 10 minutes of Questions and Answers. Establishing a healthy division of labour is part of the group work exercise, yet it will be essential for all group members to participate both in the preparation AND in the presentation of your Group Project. As explained under Aims and Assessment, your Group Project consists of a focused case study of one or more individual(s), theme(s) or concept(s) pertaining to the overall topic of the module, and should be structured around a relevant historical question.
The Workshop is your chance to present your Group Project to your peers. You are encouraged to include some or all of the following in your presentation:
- Justification of your chosen topic and question
- Documentation of your research process, including unexpected finds and challenges
- Explanation of your findings and why they matter
- Potential for further research
You are free to choose those audovisual media (e.g. Powerpoint, Prezi, video blog, info-motion graphic) that allow for the most effective presentation of your textual and visual materials. For an outline of what makes a good presentation, see Presentation Marking Scale.
