There are a number of very useful online resources which you may wish to consult regularly during the module:
- Bibliography of British and Irish History (a starting point to find books/articles published on any aspect of British history)
- BRANCH: Britain, Representation and Nineteenth-Century History (a collection of articles from historians, art historians and literary scholars across the world)
- Defining Gender
- Florin (a website on Florence created by Julia Bolton Holloway which contains among other things biographies of some of the women buried in the 'English' cemetery in Florence)
- Garibaldi and the Risorgimento (at Brown University)
- Grand Tour (collection of essays and primary sources)
- The Grand Tour Project (from Stanford University focusing on architects on the grand tour)
- Interactive timeline of the Risorgimento
- Nineteenth-Century Newspapers (the Library also has subscriptions to The Times, Guardian/Observer, Daily Mail, Illustrated London News and a range of nineteenth-century periodicals)
- Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (an essential starting point for researching any key figure)
- Woman and her Sphere (a blog written by Elizabeth Crawford which includes a section on British women writers and Italy)
