MA Module Nomination

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: This form must be submitted by 12:00 Friday 17th October 2025 (the end of week 2 of the Autumn term), and the results of the module allocation will be circulated to students by the end of week 4 of the Autumn term. Places are not allocated on a first-come first-served basis, but instead all students who submit their module nomination form by the relevant deadline are given due consideration. Students may resubmit the form with different nominations as often as they wish before the submission deadline; the last form submitted by each student will be used in the module allocation process. Those students who fail to submit a form by the deadline are required to wait until the module allocation process has been completed for those students who did submit by the deadline, and then to make their choices from the reduced number of module places that still remain available.

MODULE NOMINATIONS: Students must list four modules in order of preference and will be allocated two of them to study in the Spring term. Students enrolled in the ‘MA in the History of Medicine’ course will automatically be allocated the ‘HI991 Matters of Life and Death: Topics in the Medical Humanities’ module as one of their two Spring term modules, regardless of where it has been ranked.

Please refer to module webpages for information about timetabling for these modules.

CHOICES: Students are not permitted to repeat any of their choices, but must list four choices in ranked order of preference. Failure to list all four choices will invalidate the module nomination form and the form will be disregarded in the module allocation process.

ALLOCATION: Though the History Department endeavours to cater for student demand, there are occasionally a few modules where the demand exceeds the capacity. Consequently, students cannot be guaranteed to be allocated their preferred modules and should therefore give equal consideration to all of their nominations. Students should ensure that they have looked at all of the choices thoroughly before they submit their nominations.
