I am a first-year PhD student in Translation and Transcultural Studies, under the supervision of Dr. Qian Liu and Prof. Mary Harrod.

Research

My research focuses on the appropriation and adaptation of The Monkey King in contemporary Anglophone literature and visual culture. I use the adaptation of the ancient Chinese image the Monkey King as a lens to probe issues including how appropriation and adaptation influencing cultural production in literary and visual fields and working to present transnational ideologies, how ancient cultural images affecting the making of who we are and of the world we are in, as well as how the human imagination shaping the transformative possibilities and displaying limitations in contemporary world.
