IT101 Syllabus 2016-2017

The course consists of 4 hours of teaching per week for 21 weeks (reading weeks: week 6 of terms 1 and 2).

Assessments will take place in weeks 5 and 10 of terms 1 and 2, and the oral examination will be in week 4 or 5 of term 3. Attendance at the tests and the oral exam is compulsory. Absence will be recorded as a 0% mark.

You should attend all classes and the tutors should promptly be informed of any reason for absence.

Students are required to obtain a user code & password for the University Computer Network from Computing Services.

Please note that, in addition to completing all homework specifically assigned by your tutors, you are required to carry out a certain amount of self-study, using IT resources, the audio-visual resources offered by the Language Centre and the Transnational Resources Centre, and, if needed, additional grammar books. Specific suggestions to this effect are given below. Please note that, as a topic is explained in class, you should reinforce your understanding and grasp of that topic by reading the relevant sections and doing the relevant exercises in the Progetto italiano book, and in Una grammatica italiana per tutti, even when your tutors do not specifically mention this in class. If you are not sure about which sections you should be doing, please ask your tutors!
