Jessica Wardhaugh was commissioned by Naxos Musicology International to open their discussion on 'Theatricality and the challenges of definition'. Her essay on 'Statues in the heat of political passion', which explores the tensions in theatricality between distance and immediacy, liberal self-fashioning and radical belonging, has just been published on the Naxos Music Library website.
