Multiple awards success for SMLC students and staff

Students and staff from the School of Modern Languages and Cultures won across a range of University-level awards at Warwick's end of year party.

Fiona Brewis, finalist in German Studies, was awarded an Outstanding Student Contribution Award (https://warwick.ac.uk/services/academicoffice/congregation/ceremonies/oscas/winners2019). Prof Kate Astbury won in the University Staff Awards Public Engagement category, while Ariane Demeure-Ahearne won an Outstanding Contribution award (https://warwick.ac.uk/insite/uni_awards/winners2019). In the Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence, Joerg Seifert (Language Centre) was a winner, while Dr Ian Roberts (German Studies) was highly commended, and current PhD candidate Maria Ines Castro e Silva was also highly commended in the Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence for PGR students who teach. In the inaugural Warwick Awards for Personal Tutoring Excellence (WAPTE) awards, Dr David Lees (French, Senior Tutor for SMLC) was also a winner (https://warwick.ac.uk/services/ldc/teaching_learning/wate/wapte1819).
