3 June 2025: 'Manufacturing and Circular Economy' conference organised by IGSD, WBS, and WMG was a great success!
Warwick’s Sustainability Spotlight, in partnership with WMG, WBS, and IGSD delivered a dynamic workshop at The Shard, London. Themed as 'Manufacturing and Circular Economy', the event brought together leaders from industry, businesses, academia, and policy to explore practical solutions for circular economy and sustainable manufacturing in a rapidly changing global context. The workshop was designed to foster open dialogue, shared learning, and actionable outcomes. Through a structured series of conversations, attendees shared insights and examples of best practice, creating space for collaboration across sectors and disciplines. Delegates were encouraged to take away tangible strategies - as part of the CE TOOLKIT, fostered by Warwick - that could be applied immediately in their own organisations and communities.
The workshop attracted over 80 participants, and spotlighted Warwick's research and impact leadership in CE, business sustainability and manufacturing. The event has an open padlet for anyone who wishes to contribute their thoughts further. It will produce a report and a series of policy recommendations for the government CE TASK Force, to encourage further thinking about how to put CE to practice.
Warwick's Sustainability Training School is about to kick off!
Between 30 March – 5 April 2025, over 21 next-generation climate leaders from eight countries (and 13 nationalities), will attend Warwick’s pioneering Sustainability Training Academy in Venice. Launched in 2023 by the Institute of Global Sustainable Development (IGSD), and supported by the COP29 Scientific Council, the Sustainability Training Academy equips early career researchers (ECRs) with the interdisciplinary analytical, methodological, and practical skills needed to address the systemic challenges of climate change, climate justice and climate transition.

Our STS 2.0 alumnus, Tieza Santos, joins the NASA SciX team!
Tieza Santos, ECR STS 2.0 alumnus and a Doctoral candidate at Technische Universitat Dresden, EUTOPIA Alliance, has been chosen as a Lead Ambassador for the NASA SciH Team programme 2024-26. The NASA SciX Ambassadors are community advocates working with the NASA SciX staff. Together, they are building a better interdisciplinary digital library system. NASA SciX makes research in astrophysics, planetary science, heliophysics, and earth science more findable and accessible. An Ambassador’s responsibilities include:
§ Facilitating a robust network among their cohort and the broader NASA SciX community.
§ Engaging with their local and professional communities to promote the values and goals of NASA SciX.
§ Contributing to the NASA SciX blog and online forums, sharing their insights and experiences.
Tieza joined IGSD STS 2.0 in April 2024, and swiftly became its most member. We congratulate Tieza, an 'accidental scientist' as she calls herself, on this great award, and look forward to working together in building a robust community of ECRs for more a sustainable future!
