Join the School of Life Sciences and renowned Tunisian biologist Professor Sophien Kamoun on World Food Day to explore a global challenge in agriculture. His talk on ‘Keeping up with the plant killers’ will focus on plant pathogens (disease causing organisms) and how they threaten the crops we all depend on to survive.
About the speaker
Professor Sophien Kamoun is a Senior Scientist at The Sainsbury Laboratory and a Professor of Biology at The University of East Anglia in Norwich.Known for his seminal contributions to our understanding of plant diseases and plant immunity, Professor Kamoun has developed new ways to fight serious crop diseases through innovative work in plant pathology. He has won several awards, including the Kuwait Prize and The Linnean Medal, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2018.
