Professor Paramjit Gill - Professor of General Practice Paramjit joined the Primary Care Team in March 2017. His research interests include addressing health inequalities, especially amongst migrant populations, and evidence-based health care and its application to health care delivery. Paramjit is also Head of the Division of Health Sciences at Warwick Medical School. |

Professor David Fitzmaurice - Professor of Cardiorespiratory Primary Care David has a longstanding research interest in cardiovascular disease, in particular oral anticoagulation management. David is teaching lead for The Cardiovascular Programme at the University of Warwick. He has been Primary Care Advisor to several NICE guidelines, including the Guidelines Development Group for atrial fibrillation, author of UK guidelines for patients self-management of oral anticoagulation, co-author of recent systematic review of cost-effectiveness of self-management of oral anticoagulation for HTA and primary care advisor to the NHS Heart improvement programme. David is also a GP. |

Dr Helen Atherton - Associate Professor Helen’s research interests are in access to general practice and the delivery of the consultation in primary care, her expertise is in the use of email and video for consultation with patients in primary care settings. Helen also has interests in the reporting of patient experience, specifically the way that the NHS collects and utilises online feedback from patients. Helen is currently involved in leading or collaborating on several ongoing projects in these areas. |

Dr Rachel Spencer - Clinical Lecturer General Practice Rachel is an academic GP and her research interest is in all aspects of patient safety in primary care and has involved in prescribing safety research for the last ten years. She helped develop prescribing indicators used by the RCGP and the CPRD. Her doctoral work focused on safety of communication at the interface of primary and secondary care. |

Dr Sarah Hillman - Clinical Lecturer General Practice Sarah originally joined the Unit as an Academic Clinical Fellow in February 2017. Sarah’s research is around Women’s health in the community and primary care. She is also the co-lead for the IAT programme within the unit. |

Dr Veronica Nanton - Senior Research Fellow Veronica’s research has focussed on psychosocial aspects of cancer and patient and carer experience in palliative care. She has a particular interest in the needs of minority populations. Her studies encompass a range of designs including clinical trials and mixed methods, longitudinal narrative interviews and ethnography. |

Dr John MacArtney - Senior Research Fellow John is a sociologist of health and illness with specific interests in palliative and end of life care, bereavement, and diagnosis of cancer and who specialises in qualitative research. John’s current position is a partnership with Marie Curie that aims to promote research activities within Marie Curie's services through local, national and international academic and clinical collaborations. |

Dr Carol Bryce - Research Fellow Carol is a qualitative researcher who joined the Unit of Academic Primary Care in September 2016. She is involved in evaluating a post CCT GP fellowship programme in acute care and in the development of a digital resource to support carers. Carol has worked on research projects in public health, health education and behaviour change and has a particular interest in healthy eating and the interpretation of nutrition guidelines. |

Dr Abi Eccles - Research Fellow Abi joined Warwick Primary Care in October 2016 working on various projects. Her research interests focus on patient centred care and communication during consultations. Abi’s doctoral research examined the information and decision support needs for people with Multiple Sclerosis; exploring the applicability of personalised care planning and accounts of decision making and interactions with healthcare professionals. |

Dr Celia Bernstein - Research Fellow Celia is a medical sociologist who joined the Unit of Academic Primary Care in the summer of 2019. She is particularly interested in exploring lay experiences of illness to inform the development and delivery of complex interventions. Celia currently works on the Care Companion project that aims to assess the impact of a web-based resource for informal carers. |

Dr Jo Parsons - Research Fellow Jo is interested in the development and evaluation of digital health interventions, the management of long- term conditions, and health-related behaviour change. Dr Bilal Salman - Academic Clinical Fellow Bilal joined the Unit in February 2020 as an ACF in Primary Care and is also a trainee on the Coventry and Warwickshire GP programme. He took a non traditional route into General Practice; starting his career as a trainee in Emergency Medicine. He is now pursuing a career as an Academic GP with research interests in Men’s Health, Health Promotion and Lifestyle Medicine. |

Dr Julia Gauly - Doctoral Researcher Julia Gauly started her PhD at WMS in October 2017. Her research project is on pharmacy-based sexual health services. Julia is interested in the users of pharmacy-based sexual health services, and the barriers and enablers to the delivery of these services. |

Eleanor Hoverd - NIHR Predoctoral Clinical Academic Fellow Eleanor's interests include broadening the diversity of participation in health research, more specifically the informed consent process and how this works with under-served populations. Eleanor is also interested in the development of electronic informed consent in health research. Eleanor is a Research Nurse with the Clinical Research Network West Midlands primary care team based in Coventry and is also the Patient Public Involvement Engagement Lead for primary care working closely with NIHR (Public) Research Champions to raise awareness about health research and improve opportunities for involvement and engagement. |

Bethany McLoughlin - PhD Student Bethany started her PhD at WMS in October 2020 and her research project centres on improving wellbeing and reducing isolation in carers. Bethany is interested in comparing the effectiveness and accessibility of online and in-person support groups for carers of people with dementia. |
