Seed Funding

Here are some ideas of things which could be funded, but we are open to hearing from you and what you think is important to our community!

·Funding small items that make learning or adapting to university life more accessible

·Printing a set of posters, badges or similar to celebrate inclusivity

·Provide refreshments for a networking session or event for a group of people

·Small changes to common spaces such as role model artwork or items for a quiet space

·Budget to help set up an event or exhibition e.g., pay for poster boards

·Pay travel expenses for specific speakers to attend for a talk or workshop

·Local public engagement activities (including kit) where there is a clear focus on EDI

Any items that are purchased will remain the property of the University of Warwick.

·Staff time (on a case-by-case basis, we could potentially fund student ambassadors)

·Activities that don’t clearly link what they’re doing with supporting EDI

·Standard schools outreach

·Alcohol

·Computer consumables

·Software licences

·Buying items such as food and drink external to Warwick suppliers

·Activities that fall outside of university rules

If your application is successful, we will be in touch and will meet with you informally to support you with your fund, as well as guidance on financial regulations and purchasing. You can also take a look at the university Social Inclusion strategy.

The maximum award for standard projects is £200. If you think you require more than this, please contact Rachel Edwards and Ria Wilson with more information in advance to explore any potential to increase the budget. The funding is directly related to your project only and costs need to be incurred during the project timeline and within the same financial year (1^st August – 31^st July).

You will need to fill out a short application form which will be provided telling us about the activity, as well as a detailed budget supported by quotes, where relevant. Please do not make any purchases until your application has been approved and the team have been in touch with you to discuss any purchasing. Please note, we cannot reimburse receipts for purchases via expenses.

Applications will be collated and reviewed by Inclusion Committee members, to ensure the funding proposals align with the purpose of the scheme.

The fund is open throughout the year, and applications are reviewed quarterly by the Inclusion Committee.

To be considered at the next review meeting, please submit your application by one of the following deadlines:

Tuesday 1^st December (assessment will take place on Tuesday 8^th December)

Tuesday 9^th March (assessment will take place on Tuesday 16^th March)

Monday 21^st June (assessment will take place on Monday 28^th June)

Please note that the total funding available if £1000 per financial year (1^st August – 31^st July). Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and may not be allocated at every assessment meeting. We therefore recommend submitting your application as early as possible, as funding may be fully committed before the end of the financial year. If this is the case, you can request to have your bid considered in the next financial year.
