Colleagues announced as John Grimwade Medal winners

We are delighted to announce that Dr Oksana Trushkevych and Professor Steve Dixon have been named recipients of the prestigious John Grimwade Medal for 2024, awarded by the British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT).

Their outstanding paper, 'Soft magnetostrictive patches for guided wave ultrasonics using Wiedemann effect-based MPTs and EMATs’Link opens in a new window has been recognised as the best contribution to the Institute’s journal in the past year.

Oksana attended the annual conference in September and collected the award where their achievements were celebrated among peers and professionals across the industry. Oksana said: "It is a great privilege and honour to receive this award, and I'm grateful to Steve Dixon for his collegiality, mentorship and support. The work originated when I was based in the Department of Physics, contributing to the strengthening of cross-departmental collaboration between Physics and the School of Engineering."

Steve has previously received the John Grimwade Medal in 2002, 2005 and 2011 as well as the Roy Sharpe Prize in 2017. Established in 1981, the John Grimwade Medal honours the legacy of E J Grimwade, a pioneering figure in the field of Non-Destructive testing.
