Dr. Rachel Edwards
Research interests:
Noncontact generation and detection of ultrasound, using lasers and electromagnetic acoustic transducers. Modelling of ultrasound using PZFlex. Non-destructive testing.
Cryogenic ultrasonic measurements of single crystals, looking at phase transitions and changes in the elastic constants, attenuation and efficiency of generation.
See the group webpage for more details of the research and funding.
Teaching:
I lecture PX385, Condensed Matter Physics. The moodle page is available at the link.
I am happy to discuss potential final year projects in NDT or low temperature ultrasound, and URSS summer research projects.
