Penalties for Late Submission

Late Penalties

  • The penalty for late submission of all assessments is a 5% deduction per working day, up to a maximum of 10 working days, after which a mark of 0 will be recorded. Submission after the stated deadline time (including a few seconds late) will automatically count as 1 day late. NB for students who started their course prior to 1 August 2019, a 3 marks deduction per University working day applies.
  • The penalty will only be applied to the assessment component that was submitted late. For example if you have an assessment for which you scored 65% and was 1 day late, this would be reduced to 60%. The other components would be unaffected. The affected component will then be added to the other assessment components for the module and weighted appropriately to give you a final module mark.
  • If you were unable to request an extension in advance, but there was a valid reason for late submission, you can appeal to the Board of Examiners' mitigation panel for late penalties to be waived. To do so open Tabula, go to 'My student profile' and then Personal Circumstances'.
