WMG Helps Accelerate TVS Motor Company’s Transition into Electric Mobility

The WMG Skills Centre delivers a bespoke training programme to help TVS engineers lead India’s shift toward electric two-wheeler mobility.

  • Course: Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technologies
  • Participants: 30 engineers
  • Core Modules: Hybrid Powertrains, Battery Technology, Electric Machines, Power Electronics & Control, Control and Energy Management, and EV Design and Integration

The electric two-wheeler market in India is undergoing rapid transformation—a challenge that TVS Motor Company, one of the country’s leading manufacturers of two and three-wheelers , is actively steering into.

Living by its vision to ‘provide mobility solutions that are exciting, responsible, sustainable and safe’, TVS are committed to building internal capability in hybrid and electric vehicle systems. Strengthening this technical expertise is essential to driving innovation, maintaining competitiveness and accelerating its strategy to expand into international markets.

To support this ambition, TVS collaborated with WMG – its long-standing strategic partner in mobility research to develop a tailored 5-day Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technologies training programme. The aim was to strengthen the technical understanding, skills set and capability of 30 engineers from multiple teams across the organisation.

Delivered by WMG experts onsite at TVS’s facility in Bengaluru, India, the programme explored modules in Hybrid Powertrains, Battery Technology, Electric Machines, Power Electronics & Control, Control and Energy Management, and EV Design and Integration. The teaching blended industry-aligned lectures with group activities, virtual lab simulations, and online sessions from WMG specialist back in the UK.

Commenting on the impact of the course, Co-course Lead, Dr Jonathan Saul said, ‘What made this programme so effective was the focus on applied learning. The engineers were able to take new concepts in hybrid and electric systems and immediately relate them to the projects they are working on at TVS. You could see their confidence and problem‑solving capability grow in real time.’

“This programme has significantly helped our engineers strengthen their fundamentals in hybrid and electric vehicle technologies. The hands on approach, combined with WMG’s strong technical expertise, enabled our teams to immediately connect classroom concepts with real world engineering challenges. This learning intervention has enhanced our internal capability and supports TVS’s commitment to driving innovation in electric mobility.”
