Law students present research at BCUR
Warwick Law School is delighted to share that three of our current undergraduate students received departmental funding to present at The British Conference for Undergraduate Research (BCUR) hosted by the University of Newcastle from 9-10 April this year.
Law School research partner appointed to national task force by the Supreme Court of India
In a recent judgment, the Supreme Court of India has nominated WLS research partner Dr Nidhi Sabharwal for a national task force to investigate issues relating to mental health (particularly suicides) in higher education institutions in India.
Dr Sabharwal is currently co-Principal research partner on the Fair Chance Foundation project 'Widening Access to Higher Education in India: Institutional Approaches'.
WLS students win National Law Award at the House of Lords
Warwick Law School students have won the LawWorks and Attorney General Student Pro Bono Award for 'Best Contribution by a Team of Students'. The awards, run by LawWorks with the support of the Attorney General, recognise and celebrate the outstanding pro bono work undertaken by law schools and law students across the UK. The Warwick team, represented by Law students Ella Cowell, Kieran Balendran, Clare Mellor, and Tani Ilemobola, received their award from the Attorney General, the Rt Hon Lord Hermer KC, in the Cholmondeley Rooms of the House of Lords on Wednesday 23 April.
The University of Warwick Strengthens Partnerships with Africa Through Academic Law Events
Warwick School of Law has highlighted its deep connections with Africa through a series of impactful academic events in Nairobi that celebrated collaboration, inclusion, and global engagement. Marking the University’s 60th anniversary the School of Law hosted three interconnected events in Nairobi, Kenya, showcasing the transformational impact of Warwick's partnerships in Africa. These events demonstrate the Warwick Africa Hub's dedication to building equitable partnerships through the exchange of knowledge, collaborative research, and inclusive education.
Landmark workshop on Law, Development and Environmental Governance
Warwick Law School, the Department of Politics and International Studies and the University of Nairobi’s Faculty of Law, hosted a vibrant and intellectually rich workshop on 28 March 2025, exploring “Law and Development Perspectives of Environmental Governance in Africa.” The hybrid event brought together leading academics, practitioners, and students for a day of critical reflection and dialogue on some of the most pressing legal and developmental issues facing the continent.
Over 100 attendees participated in the Warwick Law School Public Lecture at USIU-Africa
Warwick Law School, in collaboration with United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa), hosted a successful public lecture last month in Nairobi, Kenya, that attracted over 100 students, academics, and legal professionals. The event provided a platform for insightful discussions on pressing legal and social issues, reinforcing Warwick’s commitment to global engagement and academic collaboration.
WLS students help Warwickshire Law Society relaunch its Junior Lawyers Division
The Warwickshire Junior Lawyers Division is a recently re-launched community for junior lawyers across Warwickshire. LLB student Jaskiran Sandhu is Vice Chair of the WJLD. She told us a little more about the launch event, what the WJLD has to offer, and why WLS students should consider joining whilst membership fees are waived.
WLS makes oral phase of Oxford IP Moot Competition
The Warwick Law School team recently participated in the oral phase of the Oxford Intellectual Property Moot, held in-person at the University of Oxford, from 19-22 March 2025. Following their successful qualification through the challenging written phase, the team represented the university at this internationally renowned competition.

Dr Ming-Sung Kuo awarded Prize of Scholarly Excellence
Warwick Law School’s Dr Ming-Sung Kuo was awarded the 2025 Prize of Scholarly Excellence in Constitutional Studies by the Constitutional Studies Program at the University of Texas at Austin last month.
