Suffering sexual violence in silence: capturing the LGBTQUA+ student experience – Survey Request

At any university, students have had issues with Sexual Assaults and sometimes Rape offences. I gained the opportunity to complete an Undergraduate Research Support Scheme project and wanted to focus on this notion. This is an invitation to complete an anonymous survey which will centre around how much students at Warwick know about the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which encompasses all the sexual offences that go to court – including Rape and Sexual Assault. It will only take around 10-15 minutes. Thank you for your time, Sophie Cole-Ducker. Deadline: 7 October 2021.

Read our Participation Information Leaflet before you complete the online survey.

Death Penalty Project (DPP)

Are you passionate about human rights law? Curious about the US common law system? Seeking to refine your research skills? If so, then the Pro Bono Death Penalty Project (DPP) is a fantastic opportunity for you. The DPP is a unique pro bono project at Warwick Law School. Through our Attorney-Support Programme, we work remotely with legal offices across the USA to offer students practical research tasks surrounding the death penalty and an insight into the US legal system, particularly issues concerning mitigation and effective legal representation. Deadline: 22 October 2021.

Opportunities Available:

  • Become a Project Volunteer - You will be assigned several research/administrative tasks, spread evenly throughout the year, revolving around the death penalty. The role has no application process and is open to those from any degree. Sign up.
  • Apply to be a Group Leader - You will manage a group of several students, oversee their progress in project tasks, and report back to Project Leaders. This role is ideal for those with strong leadership skills and those with experience of the project (though this is not essential). Apply now.
  • Apply to be a Research and Publicity Officer - You will research, curate and produce content for the DPP social media platforms to raise awareness of death penalty cases and the social disparities that exist in the capital punishment system. This role is ideal for those with strong research skills and a creative flair. Apply now.

Death Penalty Programme Internship: For many years, the project has also offered the chance for students to apply for the programme’s internship hosted by our US partner offices. The internship offers practical exposure to US legal work, such as conducting legal research; contributing to case briefs filed in US courts; and taking witness statements in areas such as criminal, medical and human rights law. Although the internship is unlikely to go ahead this year, previous participation in the project is highly valued in the application process - bear this in mind should the internship relaunch.
