Suffering sexual violence in silence: capturing the LGBTQUA+ student experience – Survey Request

At any university, students have had issues with Sexual Assaults and sometimes Rape offences. I gained the opportunity to complete an Undergraduate Research Support Scheme project and wanted to focus on this notion. This is an invitation to complete an anonymous survey which will centre around how much students at Warwick know about the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which encompasses all the sexual offences that go to court – including Rape and Sexual Assault. It will only take around 10-15 minutes. Thank you for your time, Sophie Cole-Ducker. Deadline: 7 October 2021.

Legal Volunteering Opportunities at Big Voice London

BVL is a UK charity with three objectives: engage our students in law and legal policy; inspire them to pursue legal career and improve diversity in the legal profession. We believe that a person's background should not be a barrier to entering the legal profession and that the legal system can only benefit from the profession better reflecting the society we live in. To achieve our aims, we offer opportunities throughout the year for young people between the ages of 16 and 18 years old, who are currently studying for or have recently completed their A-Levels at a non-fee paying school or college. Our projects are free of charge. The projects are run virtually (via Zoom) and in person and are open to students from anywhere in England and Wales.

We are currently recruiting for the following two positions:

  • Coordinators: As a Coordinator, you would work alongside a group of Coordinators and the CEO organising and running the programmes and events for the students. This will include tasks such as student and volunteer recruitment, liaising with venues, sponsors, supporters, volunteers and students. No deadline - we recruit on a rolling basis.
  • Moot mentors: To participate in our annual mooting competition with the UK Supreme Court. Volunteers will act as 'moot mentors' to an A-Level student, meaning you will moot alongside them while also guiding them through the mooting process. As such, not only is this a great opportunity to improve your own mooting abilities, but it is also a chance to share your knowledge and skills with the next generation. Also, as an additional bonus - the final is judged by a Supreme Court Justice. Deadline: 19 January 2022 by 5pm. 2023 applications will open shortly after the deadline.
  • If you are interested in being involved in this year's mooting competition, but do not want to be a Moot Mentor, you can volunteer to be a Moot Clerk by contacting us directly via this email addressLink opens in a new window.

Summer Course: Global Administrative Law in Practice - Perspectives from the Bench

Online Only: 25 - 29 July 2022

The idea is to discuss the latest developments on global administrative law from a practical perspective and cover both constitutional and institutional issues, and issues of soft governance. Topics of global interest that have an impact in daily lives of citizens, such as Brexit or responses to the Coronavirus pandemic, will be analyzed under a transnational perspective. The regulation of such issues of global concern transcends national borders and involves diverse legal orders. And as national administrations are increasingly becoming agents of global governance, the dichotomy between the national and the international becomes increasingly blurred.
The program covers the different ways of interaction between such different regulatory systems (global, regional, national) but also the novel administrative procedures, review mechanisms, and decisional principles that promote greater accountability in decision-making by the proliferating variety of global regulatory administrative bodies.
