Campus Timeline:Refurbishment of Engineering (2011)
This project was a major refurbishment of parts of the Engineering Building with the aim of:
- Providing additional research, teaching and common room.
- Improving the image of Engineering.
- Improving the front entrance in terms of disabled access.
This project was seen as a first phase of general improvements and refurbishment of Engineering. The works were broken down into two phases:
1: Conversion of the old foundry to a chemical engineering lab for Professor Lapkin, and
2: General extension and refurbishment of Engineering. This was further broken down to three sub projects: general refurbishment to the foyer and entrance, extension onto the balcony to provide flexible teaching and common room space, and increased teaching space in the workshop by sub dividing double height space.
