West Midlands Cycle Hire is coming to University of Warwick, linking our campus into a network of 1500 hire bikes and 170 docking stations across the region.
The scheme, run by Serco on behalf of Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), is replacing the current contract we have with NextBike, which draws to a close at the end of August. The new scheme, launching in early September, will give us the opportunity to rent bikes for short trips around campus, or longer trips to places across the West Midlands, all through an easy-to-use app.
This is an exciting opportunity to make cycling practical and accessible to even more members of our community, including people travelling to campus from Coventry. To hire a bike, users will need to register on the scheme’s cycle hire app. Using the app they can then unlock a bike from a docking station to start their ride.
Bikes will be available to hire 24/7 and a number of docking stations will be located at key locations across the campus.
As an introductory offer everyone who signs up will get their first 30 minute bike ride for free. More offers and deals are in the pipeline to entice our community to get riding.
