Online Application for Library Membership

Types of Library Membership for external users

Community Member

This membership is free of charge and entitles the user to borrow up to 5 items for a period of two weeks, dependent on the loan status of the book (some books are 3 day loan). Should the book be in high demand, there is the possibility that it may be recalled at any time. Please therefore ensure that you check your e-mails regularly, and return any recalled items as soon as possible. A passport sized photograph (for the membership: clearly visible face), photo ID (please upload this with the membership photo). Membership will be for one year.

SCONUL Access

This membership is free of charge. Initial applications must be completed via SCONUL. Once you have received email confirmation of your SCONUL application please complete the following form. The entitlements will vary accordingly to the band of SCONUL. A passport sized photograph (for the membership: clearly visible face), photo ID, and a copy of your SCONUL confirmation email are required. The membership entitles you to reference use of the Library only.

Sixth Form Pupils

This membership is free of charge. A passport sized photograph (for the membership: clearly visible face), photo ID, and a typed copy of school letter (on headed paper) with clearly stated names of a pupil applying for the membership and signed by the responsible school tutor or headteacher is required.

Please upload the following documentation to support your application. Failure to upload the correct documentation will result in a delay in processing your request.

  1. Proof of ID.
  2. A recent photo of yourself – your face and shoulders must be clearly visible.
  3. For Sixth form pupils - School headed letter signed by responsible adult (headteacher/tutor).
  4. SCONUL - SCONUL letter confirming your application.

Please note all documents need to be attached to the online application for these to be accepted and processed. We are unable to accept additional documents in person or sent after the submission was made. If you suspect a mistake was made, please re-submit the application form.

Thank you for applying to become a Library member. Your application may take up to 1 week to process.

We will contact you by email once your application has been processed, and if it is approved, we will ask you to come to the library to collect your card.
