Cathryn MacLeod is Associate Professor within the Counselling and Psychotherapy department, Programme Lead of the BA(Hons) Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She’s a member of the Centre for Lifelong Learning Wellbeing and Professionalism Group.
She is also a practising psychotherapist in private practice, registered and accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Cathryn has been in practice for over 25 years in a variety of settings working mostly with young people in colleges, schools and universities. Cathryn now specialises in working with adults in private practice around themes of gender, sex and relationship diversity and holds an Advanced Specialist Diploma in GSRD Psychotherapy.
Cathryn is beginning a PhD exploring the use of the self in counselling training. She’s interested in developing scholarship around themes of teaching within diversity, person-centred counselling and pedagogy, working with gender sex and relationship diversity and neurodivergence in counselling and teaching, and using queer research methods.
Cathryn is a Fellow of the HEA and a member of BACP and tPCA.
