Dr Sonia Gallucci works as a Teaching Fellow in Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes in the Centre for Lifelong Learning. She also works internationally as an integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Focusing-Oriented Therapist.

Sonia is originally from Italy but has been living in the UK for over two decades, gaining considerable experience in the Education and Mental Health sectors.

In her previous academic roles, she worked as a Senior Lecturer in the fields of Languages, Culture and Education. She also worked as an Academic Advisor, Mentor, Research Supervisor and Counsellor for university students and members of staff.

Sonia is passionate about human relations and how they evolve depending on the contexts in which they are being negotiated. This passion informs her cross-disciplinary research and inspires her day-to-day teaching practices as well as her therapeutic work across borders. Her current research interests are in Intercultural Psychotherapy, International Mobility, Identity and Focusing.

Sonia is a Fellow of the Advance Higher Education, a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP) and of the Italian Association for Counselling (AssoCounseling). She is also certified as a Focusing Oriented Therapist with The International Focusing Institute (TIFI) and the British Focusing Association (BFA).
