Tammie is an Assistant Professor and registered Social Worker who has joined the Social Work team after 18 years working at Leicester City Council. Tammie spent 12 years working in the Youth Justice service and completed her MA in Social Work at Leicester University during that period, qualifying as a Social Worker in 2011. She went on to complete her Practice Educator Qualification at De Montfort University in 2014 and this cemented her passion for supporting the learning and development of trainee social workers. Tammie joined the Learning and Development team as a Senior Practice Educator in 2018 and spent 6 years supporting students across various programmes and routes into Social Work, including students on the degree apprenticeship course at Warwick. She worked closely with various universities in co-ordinating and overseeing practice placements. Most recently Tammie was the Learning and Development manager for Children’s Social Care and Early Help at Leicester City Council, a role which included her being co-ordinator of the ASYE programme. She has a keen interest in reflective practice, emotional resilience, exploring the professional identity of social work and supporting students to explore the links between theory and practice. She has taught as an associate lecturer at De Montfort University.
