Staff Development Programme finishes as runner-up of Warwick Social Inclusion Staff Awards 2022

We are proud to celebrate the achievement of Tackling Racial Inequality at Warwick (TRIW) Staff Development Programme led by Dr Anil Awesti for being shortlisted for the Social Inclusion Staff Awards 2022.

The Awards, presented at Warwick’s Social Inclusion Conference, aim to o celebrate the progress of social inclusion and widening participation at Warwick, and in particular to recognise staff contributions to making Warwick a better place to live, study, and work.

TRIW has been nominated for its contribution to making Warwick a more inclusive place for all members of our community by ensuring racial diversity is recognised, understood, and valued. Led by Dr Anil Awesti at CLL in 2021-22, the Staff Development programme consisting of a number of core and optional workshops, is recognised as a crucial step in tackling racial inequality at Warwick.

This has highlighted the key value CLL holds in making continuous efforts towards social conclusion and lifelong learning. Our colleagues who nominated the team says:

“By better preparing staff to engage with Warwick’s diverse student body, both inside and outside the classroom, the programme ensures staff appreciate and value Warwick’s racial diversity and provides them with the tools to recognise and tackle racial inequalities… By equipping staff with knowledge, understanding and tools, the TRIW team is positively impacting the experiences of students of colour at Warwick.”
