The Patterns which Connect: Investigating an online personally-constructed pedagogy of mindfulness.

The purpose of this research is to develop, test and refine an online mindfulness platform designed to facilitate a personally constructed online learning experience of mindfulness.

At present, the expanding realm of mindfulness online applications, pedagogy and research is fraught with tensions and contradictions (Crane, 2017; Harrington & Dunne, 2015). Therefore, approaches to research which are epistemologically appropriate to the study of mindfulness and meditative practice are urgently needed. This research will be housed within a qualitative framework which synthesises constructivism, interpretivism and action research. Currently at the stage of online platform design and construction, many questions regarding the role of researcher past experience, person, attitudes and modes of thinking have already emerged, highlighting, in the stages which precede the undertaking of action research, the role and value of reflexive practice, a skill also inherent to the practice of mindfulness.
