Healthcare Leadership - iheed (PGCert/PGDip/MSc) (2025 Entry)
Find out more about our Healthcare Leadership taught degree at Warwick
Clinicians are viewed as credible leaders, whether they feel so themselves or not. Indeed, many healthcare workers take on important leadership responsibilities throughout their career, managing large teams and complex organisations. However, leadership and management skills are not acquired during clinical undergraduate training. The clinician is never taught how to step away from the physician-patient relationship and examine problems at a systems level.
Course overview
This course, designed in partnership with iheed, and delivered by world-leading medical leaders, comprehensively closes the gap in clinician leadership competency. Whether you are a clinician seeking to move away from direct care or a senior administrator looking to take up a managerial role in a healthcare setting, this online Master of Healthcare Leadership is designed to give learners a broad, interdisciplinary perspective on the changing face of healthcare.
The course provides a highly engaging, richly informative and convenient educational opportunity for busy professionals and is accessible through a dedicated state-of-the-art online learning environment.

Acknowledging the busy schedules of healthcare professionals, this part-time, wholly online course offers a state-of-the-art flexible online learning environment, allowing students to balance their studies with their personal and professional commitments. This includes a carefully considered blend of live and asynchronous learning components, enabling students to learn at their own pace and access course materials at any time, on any device.
We pride ourselves on offering personalised support to students throughout their learning journey. Many of our learners are returning to education after a significant gap so the course includes a comprehensive induction, guidance on academic writing and study and regular feedback. This helps students to overcome barriers to learning and fosters a sense of belonging and engagement within their group.
Throughout the course, students will engage in:
- Weekly online synchronous tutorials
- Stimulating weekly activities
- Tutor-moderated discussion forums
- Reflective exercises
- Practical application of teaching and learning in their clinical or academic environment
Class sizes

Students will be assessed using a range of assessment methods as specified in each of the modules that constitute the overall programme. This may include assignments, group or individual presentations. Assessments are designed to enable students to demonstrate achievements of the course level learning outcomes.
