2011-2013. Arts Faculty Seminar Series.
For two years I was involved in running this postgraduate seminar series, which meets 2-3 times a term and provides an opportunity for researchers across the University's Arts Faculty to present their research in a conference-style, interdisciplinary environment. Responsibilities included securing funding, administrating budgets, booking facilities, attracting speakers and formulating publicity materials. During the academic year 2011/12 I was a member of the organising committee, during the year 2012/13 I headed the organsing committee.
Summer 2012. WreC teaching project.
During the period from May to July 2012 I took part in this outreach project, which was funded through a larger research project taking place in the department. It involved going into a large local comprehensive school and teaching the academic content of the research project to a small class of 'gifted' year 10 (age 14-15) students (partly with the aim of encouraging them to pursue a place at a Russel group University). This gave me a valuable experience of teaching students and marking their work in a pre-University environment, and of liasing with an external teaching and administrative body.
June 13 2014. 'Cultures of Combined and Uneven Development'.
I am current co-organizing a large academic conference to take place in June 2014 entitled 'Cultures of Combined an Uneven Development'. Responsibilities include budget planning, securing venue and funding, attracting keynote speakers, and publicising the conference on an international basis.
