Suspected Plagiarism Protocol

Reporting Suspected Academic Misconduct

If you suspect a case of plagiarism, unauthorised AI use, or any other form of academic misconduct:

  1. Do not flag the work in Tabula.
    This ensures the student is first contacted by a person (not a system notification). The Director of Teaching and Learning (DoTL) will notify the student once an investigation is initiated.

  2. Email the DoTL with:

    • The module name and code

    • The specific assessment (e.g., 3000-word Independent Research Essay)

    • A summary of the concerns

    • A list of evidence, including:

      • Screenshots or side-by-side comparisons with sources

      • Direct links to original sources (not just the Turnitin report)

  3. Refer to these key resources:
