History PGR Writing Retreat
Take time to start or finish your academic writing. Are you struggling with a chapter, a conference paper, or an article? This History Writing Retreat, designed explicitly for PhD students from the History Department, offers the opportunity to focus exclusively on your academic writing. This writing retreat is part of the project Enhancing the International Researcher Experience in the Faculty of Arts.Link opens in a new window
During this Writing Retreat, you will have the opportunity to dedicate time to your own academic writing and learn from academics in the History department about their effective academic writing strategies.
Schedule
10:00 –10:20. Check in and introduction to the day
10:20 – 10:30. Goal setting
10:30 – 12:00. Sprint 1
12:00 –13:00. Lunch
13:30 –13:30. Tips and techniques. Writing for different audiences. Speaker: Professor Roberta Bivins (History)
13:30 – 15:00. Sprint 2
15:00 – 15:30. Break
15:30 – 16:30. Sprint 3
16:30 - 17:00. Goal review, discussion and feedback
The History PGR Writing Retreat will take place in Room 43 in Scarman, Warwick Conferences. Lunch and snacks are included. There is limited space for 18 students, with priority given to History PGR students in their writing-up period.
