Week 10: Early Colonisation and Company Rule 1600-1857 (Part 2)

This week we will continue to examine how the East India Company gained control over much of the sub-continent from 1600 onwards. We will focus in on key leaders during this period.

1) Did Mughal leaders resist or collaborate with the EIC? Is this a simple binary?

2) How do we account for the absence of subaltern actors in most narratives of this period?

3) How did metropolitan actors work to constrain EIC power and abuses?
