Research interests

My research broadly lies within the discipline of Translation Studies, in the subfield of audiovisual translation, although there has necessarily been an interdisciplinary link to Sociolinguistics throughout my investigations. To date, I have mostly published on English-language and Castilian-Spanish dubbing, focussing on topics such as language variation, pluricentricity or non-dominant language varieties, cultural personae tied to accent, and translation and localisation strategies. I am also interested in translation software, specifically cloud-dubbing tools.

Teaching and supervision

I am teaching predominantly in the field of Translation Studies as well as in Hispanic Studies. I am lecturing master's and undergraduate students on machine translation, audiovisual translation with a focus on subtitling, and written translation (e.g., literary materials) with Spanish. I am also teaching undergraduate Spanish with a focus on didactic translation for advancing linguistic and cultural competences. Prior to joining the University of Warwick, I lectured on the MAs in Translation at the University of Bristol and the University of Leeds. I supervise master's dissertations and am involved in PhD upgrades.
