王冠驰 WANG Guanchi, PhD researcher in Translation and Transcultural Studies at the University of Warwick, is currently under the supervision of Dr. Will Amos and Dr. Qian Liu. He is also a content creator and amateur translator of musical numbers. Click here to check out his productions on Bilibili.

Research

Guanchi's PhD research project aims to explore the collaboration and interaction among different (human and non-human) agents in the amateur translation practice of musical (numbers) on the social media platform Bilibili. This research mainly focuses on two aspects of fan musical translation: (1) the practice of translating foreign-language musical numbers into singable Chinese lyrics on the Chinese social media platform BiliBili, and (2) the interaction among translators, producers, audiences, fan communities, and the social media platform.
