Hispanic Studies with Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Russian

This degree offers you the opportunity to spend 75% of your time specialising in Hispanic Studies and 25% of your time focusing on Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, or Russian language. We accept both beginners and students with some knowledge of Spanish, and in your first year we teach you in classes appropriate to your linguistic level.

The below course structure is indicative. Modules on offer change year on year, dependent on staff research interests and availability.

Year One

  Modern Spanish Language (I) or Modern Spanish Language for Beginners
  One of LL159 Arabic; LL2C2 Chinese Beginners or LL227 Chinese 2; LL2A5 Japanese Beginners or LL2C1 Japanese 2; LL2B8 Russian Beginners (extra) or LL216 Russian 2
Optional Modules

Choose two of the following

  Language, Text and Identity in the Hispanic World (HP103-30)
  Icons and Representations of the Hispanic World (HP104-30)

Translation: Methods and Practice


OR an approved external module (30 credits)
