Hispanic Studies with Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese or Russian

This degree offers you the opportunity to spend 75% of your time specialising in Hispanic Studies and 25% of your time focusing on Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese or Russian language. We accept both beginners and students with some knowledge of Spanish, and in your first year we teach you in classes appropriate to your linguistic level.

The below course structure is indicative. Modules on offer change year on year, dependent on staff research interests and availability.

Year One

  Modern Spanish Language (I) or Modern Spanish Language for Beginners
  One of LL159 Arabic; LL259 Chinese; LL2A5 Japanese, LL292 Portuguese; LL160 Russian
Optional Modules
 

Choose two of the following

  Language, Text and Identity in the Hispanic World (HP103-30)
  Images and Representations of the Hispanic World (HP104-30)
  Icons of the Hispanic World (HP105-30)
 

Translation: Methods and Practice

 

OR an approved external module (30 credits)

Year Two/Three - Spent Abroad

  Modern Spanish Language (II) or Modern Spanish Language II post-beginners
  One of LL2A1 Arabic; LL2A2 Chinese; LL2A6 Japanese; LL299 Portuguese; LL2A4 Russian
